Workshops

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR 2026 WORKSHOPS!

Science Quest offers in-person STEM workshops for classes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our dynamic workshops include exciting demonstrations, interactive experiments, and engaging projects. For each grade, there is a workshop that directly ties to Ontario Science curriculum expectations.

Our workshops are designed to increase science literacy in youth, as well as inspire ALL children to pursue sciences and consider careers in STEM. Workshops are offered during the months of May and June. Each session is 1.5 hours in length and can be placed in whichever time slot works best with your school day schedule! Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

Registration is managed through CampBrain - click below to get started!

Let’s explore how every part of the ecosystem comes together with biology! In this workshop, we examine how plants, animals, and landscapes come together to form the nature we love. This workshop has a focus on the ecosystems in the Kingston, Frontenac, and Lanark County area.

Let’s explore the amazing world of animal architects. From busy beavers building dams, to tiny ants creating underground cities, to bees designing perfect honeycomb homes we will discover how animals shape the world around them in incredible ways. Get ready to think like an engineer, learn how nature builds, and maybe even design your own wild structure!

Think of your favourite plant. Is it a flower? A tree? Grass? Maybe even a vegetable? Let’s delve into the fascinating world of flora to get to the root of plant structures and functions. This workshop includes a focus on the local ecosystems in Kingston, Frontenac, and Lanark County.

Ready to roll? Let’s talk rocks! Canada is renowned globally for our unique geological wonders. Magical minerals, fantastic fossils, and plenty of potash, let’s explore the lithological world that surrounds us with hands-on activities dealing with science behind Canada’s bounty of boulders.

Tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and floods! Natural disasters are becoming more and more prevalent in our changing world-but don’t fret, humans are always looking for innovative ways to protect ourselves and nature. Let’s join up to fight against natural disasters using STEM to create safety solutions!

Space exploration is out of this world interesting! And it would not be possible without the innovative machines humans have created in the last century that adapt to the unique. Let’s blast off to our design workshops to create complex machines to explore space using STEM.

Think of your favourite building. What makes its structure unique? In “Groovy Gravity” we take an in depth look at different types of structures and how forces affect them using examples and hands-on design challenges to gain new understanding of structures and what affects them.

Many systems play important roles in our daily lives. Let’s investigate different mechanical systems and their components!
